Country & Bluegrass

Need a boost of energy for your next upcoming event? Our country and bluegrass musicians have what it takes to keep you and your guests entertained for hours! We provide authentic bluegrass music that is sure to keep your guests tapping their feet.

The Sweeney Family Band

Enjoy the side-splitting comedy and music of The Sweeney Family Band as they perform classic bluegrass, country and folk tunes that everyone loves. Their comedy is a perfect blend of Andy Griffith, “Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou?”, “HEE HAW” and The Grand Ole Opry.

Just by looking at them, you know they are something different! The Sweeney Family Band works well as strolling entertainment and as a stage show. They generally perform 40 minutes at a time.

Their shows combine improv comedy, singing, picking and lots of hysterical audience participation. They are guaranteed to get the audience laughing out loud and having a good ole country time.

They can throw one heck of a Swamp Party, too. It’s a true Floridian event! Get in the spirit with the Sweeney Boys, Ma and Pa Sweeney, The Sweeney Sweeties and some down home backwoods fun.

The Sweeney Family Band is actually comprised of several very talented actors/entertainers who happen to play instruments and sing well. They include Greg Thompson, Jamie McKenna, Lynn Frye, Jim Lowman and Gary Hibbard. All of these entertainers are veterans of Universal Studios, Sea World, Walt Disney World and several other Central Florida Attractions. You can book the basic three man act for strolling or extend up to seven Sweeneys (stage show) for a larger event.

Andy Burr

Andy Burr has been singing and playing guitar and harmonica professionally since the late 1970s, both as a soloist and in various bands playing rock, country, pop, and reggae.

As a soloist, Andy plays a wide variety of music, including a cool concoction of tropical songs (Jimmy Buffet, Bob Marley, and others) that’s perfect for poolside gatherings and island theme parties. His sets can be garnished with 1940s-current pop, country, folk, blues, and jazzy standards.

He usually performs with pre-recorded rhythm tracks, which gives him a full sound that works well for dancing, but if a more acoustic sound is desired, he can turn off the accompaniment and play it strictly solo. Andy is professional, yet fun, friendly and outgoing. He interacts with audiences and encourages participation.

If you’re looking for something more than a soloist, Andy can call upon his many musical friends and put together a duo, trio or larger band playing tropical, Cajun, zydeco, Irish/Celtic, bluegrass, old-timey, or standards.

The Porchdogs

In 1992, Orlando residents Andy Burr (guitar, harmonica, vocals) and Greg Taillon (Cajun squeezebox, fiddle, vocals) formed The Porchdogs in order to perform the kind of music they loved but rarely heard in Central Florida–the rootsy good-time sound of Louisiana Cajun and Zydeco.

Joining Andy and Greg is either Jessy Daumen or Renee Riddle, both talented fiddlers, or Sara Burr, a mandolinist who also performs with husband Andy in their group Mountain Brew.

As a trio, the group plays acoustically (strolling or stationary) or is amplified (with prerecorded bass and drums for backup). As a full band–the best way to hear the group–The Porchdogs includes one of the tightest rhythm sections around: bassist Larry Dolamore and drummer Ronnie Hart.

Mountain Brew

As Mountain Brew, Andy and Sara Burr play a lively and unique blend of music distilled from contemporary and traditional folk, country, bluegrass, pop and rock standards, and music from the British Isles.

Instrumentation for the duo is mandolin, guitar, and harmonica with vocals and bass and drum backing tracks. If you’d like a larger group, Mountain Brew can add fiddle, bass, drums, even accordion. They can help provide the perfect atmosphere for any event where a laid-back and casual rural sound is appropriate.

The group has performed seasonally for three years running at Cypress Gardens and Silver Springs theme parks, and at many restaurants, nightclubs, and community events throughout the Central Florida area. They’re fun, friendly, and easy to work with.

The Buccaneers

As The Buccaneers, Andy and Sara Burr play a lively and unique blend of music distilled from seafaring tunes, music from the British Isles, contemporary and traditional folk, plus country and bluegrass and pop and rock standards—including, if you like, tropical favorites by Jimmy Buffett, Bob Marley, and others. Instrumentation for the duo is mandolin, guitar, and harmonica with vocals and bass and drum backing tracks.

If you’d like a larger group, The Buccaneers can add fiddle, bass, drums, even accordion. They perform in pirate costume and bring a complete PA system. They’re fun and friendly, with a show that includes lots of family-friendly jokes, and they’re professional, accommodating, and easy to work with. They can help provide the perfect tmosphere for any event with a pirate or seafaring theme.

The group has performed seasonally for three years running at Cypress Gardens and Silver Springs theme parks, and at many restaurants, nightclubs, and community events throughout the Central Florida area.
